Why, hello there! I'm DaNelle!
I'm a wanna-be farm girl who convinced her husband to buy goats... but now it's been like 7 years, so I guess I'm just your run of the mill, weird goat lady.
Once upon a time I was really sick ya'll. Like "lay in bed all day" sick. I suffered from degenerative disc disease which led to TWO back surgeries to remove bulging/torn discs. I also suffered from a balance disorder and experienced vertigo and dizziness often. It was extremely disabling, but the anxiety surrounding it was even worse. I needed a change and some serious healing.
One day I decided my life wouldn't be complete without a farm. The dream of waking up and walking outside into the crisp air to gather eggs, milk, & veggies for breakfast was too enticing. I didn't care how sick I was, I needed to really live. I forced, er I mean, "lovingly persuaded" my husband to buy some land and create an urban farm in Phoenix, AZ on ONE ACRE. Together with our 2 adorable offspring, we're living the dream milkin' goats, raisin' lambs, chasin' chickens, and growin' all sorts of stuff in our garden. We always have all sorts of shenanigans going on. Check out a tour of our farm!
What does "Weed 'em & Reap" mean?
I can't help it, I'm a sucker for puns. Have you ever heard of the phrase, "Read 'em & weep?" I thought the term "Weed 'em & Reap" would be a great reference to life on the farm -- do the work and you'll reap the rewards. Also, the fact that I write all our experiences here on the blog, that name was just too good to pass up!
Why farm life, you ask? Because, goats. Own all the goats!
Luckily for us, once we made the switch to delicious REAL FOOD, we experienced some amazing healing. My son's asthma was cured, we all stopped catching every cold & flu known to man, and bonus, I lost 35 pounds and reversed my chronic issues.
After my inflammation was greatly reduced by eating real food, I am now able to manage my back pain by visiting a Myopractor and practicing somatic exercises to retrain my muscles. I find it also improves my balance disorder. I'm not perfect, but my goal isn't to be perfect, it's to life my life to the fullest! (and own all the goats)
I love to learn about health & healing and how to develop super hero powers. Because I refuse to live a life of chronic illness sadsies.
I hope you find article that help or support you on your journey, whether it's health-wise or goats-wise.
About our family
Besides DaNelle, there's the husband, Kevin, and the two kids Ethan & Lydia. Together we all have a dream of living the farm life in the city.
Did we just become best friends?
I can't help it, I'm a people-person. I love learning about other's lives and journeys. I love hearing your health struggles and gardening triumphs. And most of all, I love hearing about your dreams, whether that to own a goat farm or grow one freaking tomato this year 😉
If you feel like we could be besties, I'd love for you to join me on Instagram or YouTube. That's where I post pictures of our lives on a pretty consistent basis.
