DaNelle started to take an interest in a healthier lifestyle after suffering from two debilitating chronic diseases. On a mission to create a farm of her own, DaNelle forced, or rather 'lovingly persuaded' her husband to purchase a ranch home on an acre of land and transform it into their very own urban farm. DaNelle blogs at Weed 'em & Reap where she writes about the sustainable backyard farming, traditional food, & natural remedies.

We had a weird story when I was a kid. We were on a bike ride for my brothers birthday in a nearby city. There were bike trails all along the river. We had ridden from camp into town and ate ice cream then it started to STORM. Thunder, lightning, suddenly dark, the whole shmoe. So Mom, my brother and I stopped in a little information building, no doors type, to wait while my dad rode back to camp to get the car. We were there a while when a guy came jogging by, in the rain… He stopped to chat for a bit then continued on. It was a while after that we saw another man crossing the bridge in front of the information building. He got about halfway across when the jogger came back by and went and chatted with the man on the bridge. The man turned around and went back across the other way. The jogger came back our way and as he jogged by said “It’s safe now.” Never saw him or the other guy again.

It was an angel! That is awesome! I once heard a pastor say that sometimes we have to thank God for what he keeps us from.

A similar thing happened to my mom and me when we were home alone one night…my dad and brother had gone to bible study. We had only been in the house a few days…it was around 6pm…there was knock at the door (we were in our jammies and didn’t answer…just sat still watching tv). Then there was a pounding and hammering and they wanted IN! I jumped up and ran to the phone and dialed 911, while my mom had just fallen to her knees praying. I was on the phone w/ the police as the door was broken down. The police arrive in about 2 minutes. The entire door and frame were knocked in…we didn’t see anyone come in our house and the police never saw anyone! I freaked out and had an adrenaline loss and started crying and couldn’t even focus on the cute policeman.
My dad was called at church and he came home w/ some friends and they repaired the door. He put a metal security door on after that. We’ve had that house over 20 years now and have never had one problem w/ break-ins or bad guys. Kind of weird.
We did find out the man who lived in our house previously was a drug user or dealer and probably owed someone some money. Luckily we’d repainted, put new carpet in and the door breakers realized he wasn’t there…just a praying mom and a 18 year old on the phone. Whew!

Oh my goodness! This is the stuff of horror movies…Hey, what WERE you watching on TV? 😉
DaNelle says
Probably Barney and friends. Don’t judge me, it was the cool thing to watch back then. Actually, that show was pretty freaky, now it all makes sense why we were so scared, haha!
